Finance: If he wasn’t buying drugs he’d be doing good. History: Kisho’s mother was a young Japanese woman who lived in Tampa. His father was a white man in town on business. Getting pregnant made sure that his mother was disowned by her family, so he never knew them or his father. After what they’d done to his mother, he never wanted to. He lived with his mother in a tiny apartment in the bad part of town, her working two jobs and doing the best she could for him until he was nine. Then she was killed in a hold up at the store that was her night job. It took the police two days to find her killer and, because they were so isolated, two months to find out Kisho existed and another two weeks to track his ass down. He was put into foster care and was trouble. He was on and off the streets and in and out of foster homes and group homes until he turned 18 and then he was just on the streets. He started using when he was 14, and that’s a habit he hasn’t even begun to kick yet. What he has managed is to get his GED, get a real job, do some volunteer work and get his ass in gear. He knows, now, that he doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life on the streets. He wants a real life. He just has to get there, and drug addict or not – he’s clawing his way up. He’s getting there. Past Background Occupation: Thief, Whore, hired security/body guard. Education: He made it through college. Activities: Telepathy, sleeping around, clawing his way off the streets. Home: None, really. Finance: None at first, eventually he did all right. History: Cat was a half-breed, named for his green, slit pupiled eyes. His mother was Hydran (a telepathic alien species) and his father was a human. When Cat was very small his mother died. He felt her die and in the process blocked away the memory of her and burned out his telepathy and empathy. He grew up on some pretty brutal streets, selling his body, using drugs, and stealing and fighting to stay alive. When he was in his mid-teens he was picked up by a group called Psi-corps who were looking to use human psionics to stop a 'bad guy' who also happened to be a human Psion. The corps unblocked his telepathy, and ultimately Cat was able to use it to kill the guy to save his friend. Being trapped inside another telepaths mind when he died made Cat's telepathy inaccessible again. The organization that had used him paid him for doing the job they'd chosen him to do, but were unable to restore his telepathy. He took the money, went to university and had a fairly normal life until he was needed again. When he was he acted as a body guard for a prominant political family - one that his friend from the previous encounter had come from. He helped again, though it nearly cost him his mind and his life. In order to use his telepathy he had to drug himself constantly -s omething he compared to walking on broken legs. To catch the person attempting to kill his charge he gave himself to a 'freak hating pervert' and was nearly beaten to death. When he went off the drugs his mind was shattered, and stayed that way for a long time. He went home, became a research scientist, and ultimately met other Hydrans. There was more political wrangling and more drama and trauma, but some of the Hydran hate and prejudice was able to be overcome and the Hydrans he met were able to, eventually, help heal his mind.
